In light of the Illinois Stay-At-Home order, these are the procedures we are now following:
- The Evanston Animal Shelter is currently closed, except for limited dog adoption hours (view those hours here).
- Food Pantry: If you urgently need food or supplies, please call ahead (847-866-5082). Items will be placed outside for curbside pickup.
- Foster Care: Thanks to the support of the community, we've been able to place most of our animals into foster homes. Applications are being accepted through this online form. Follow-up contact will take place by phone and/or email to determine if we have a compatible animal. If a foster home is arranged, there will be a curbside transfer of the animal and related supplies.
- Adoptions: We are suspending adoptions for now while we place animals into foster homes. We will resume our normal adoption process once it is safe to do so.
- Animal Intake: We will be limiting intake to emergencies only -- primarily animals brought in by animal control or the police department.
- In-Shelter Care: We will of course have a small team of people who will care for the animals who are still housed within the shelter.
Stay home and stay safe!
