DESCRIPTION:Trick or Treat Trot for Tails Walkathon is a fundraiser for the Evanston Animal Shelter Association\, the nonprofit organization that funds and manages the care of the animals at the Evanston Animal Shelter. Our goal is to raise $30\,000! As a no-kill shelter\, nearly 70% of our expenses cover verterinary care and  behavioral training. \nSign up to walk\, create a goal to raise money\, and get friends and family to donate! The walk is two miles long. Even if you can’t participate in the walk\, you can still register and fundraise! \nThe walk is dog and family friendly\, so bring your whole crew and we’ll see you there! Dress up in costume and we’ll have treats along the way – for you and your pup! Your pet can also participate in our pet costume contest! \nFestivities begin at 9:30am on the east lawn of the Charles Gates Dawes House\, home of the Evanston History Center and right across the street from the Evanston lakefront.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 18 the Evanston Animal Shelter will host our Third Annual More Than a Shelter Clinic! \nSign up for a 15-minute time slot for your pet’s quick\, easy\, and free one-year rabies vaccination and microchip procedure! \n\nRabies vaccination is required by law in the state of Illinois. Protect your pet by having him or her vaccinated. \nOne in three pets will become lost within their lifetimes and when found and brought to shelters\, registered\, current microchips are the only way to quickly reunite you and your pet. \nWhat is a microchip?\nA microchip is a small computer chip about the size of a grain of rice. It is inserted in between your dog or cat’s shoulder blades; the process is quick and does not require anesthesia. \nHow will a microchip reunite me and my pet?\nRegistered microchips enter a national database that allow animal shelters to reconnect you and your pet. A handheld scanner is placed over the pet’s back and shoulders. If a microchip is present\, the scanner will provide information on how to locate the owner. \nHow do I qualify for a free microchip and rabies vaccination?\nLocal residents with dogs and cats in need of rabies vaccinations and microchipping are eligible to register for our free clinic. \nCan I bring more than one pet?\nYes\, we encourage microchipping and vaccintion all of your dogs and cats.
