The Evanston Animal Shelter has been part of the Evanston community for decades, and we’re grateful to the journalists, writers, and local outlets who help share our animals’ stories. Below you’ll find recent coverage of our work as the Evanston Animal Shelter Association, our adoptable pets, and the people who make it all possible.

We welcome media interest in our animals, programs, and mission. For interviews, story requests, photo or video opportunities, or general press questions, please contact:
Kate Perschke, Vice President of the Evanston Animal Shelter Association, vicepresident@evanstonanimalshelter.net
Our shelter runs on a small, dedicated staff team, and our first priority is always the care and comfort of the animals in our building. To make sure someone is available to guide your visit and that animals aren’t stressed by unexpected activity, we ask that media visits be scheduled in advance whenever possible. For time-sensitive stories, reach out and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
The Evanston Animal Shelter (EAS) is a municipal shelter facility owned by the City of Evanston. It is operated by the Evanston Animal Shelter Association (EASA), an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that cares for stray and surrendered animals from Evanston and surrounding Cook County communities. EASA relies on donations, volunteers, and community support to provide care, medical treatment, and adoption services for the animals in our care.
